Spetses is a beautiful, and cosmopolitan island in the Saronic Gulf with a long history and a remarkable nautical and cultural tradition. The landmark of the town is Dapia Port with its famous square, with the statue of Laskarina Bouboulina, a heroine of the War of Independence, in the middle of it.
The narrow streets of Spetses are characterized by their traditional architecture, the neoclassical buildings, the paved yards, with multi-colored fragrant flowers and beautiful balconies.
Motor cars are not allowed on the island. For transfers, only motorcycles, bicycles, taxis and horse carriages are used.
We advise you to take a stroll in Dapia Port, next to the old gun emplacement, and visit the neoclassical mansion of Sοtirios Anargyros, the local benefactor, the Bouboulina's mansion, now housing a museum, the Spetses lighthouse, one of the first lighthouses in modern Greece and Bekiris Cave in the Beach of Agioi Anargyri.
The Beach of Agioi Anargyri is quite suitable for swimming, just like the beaches of Agia Paraskevi and Xylokertza on the southwest coast, as well as the beaches of Zogeria and Vrelon.
The island is ideal for spear fishing, sailing in the neighboring islands, diving, hiking and bike adventures.
If you love going on holiday in September, don't miss the famous Armata Festival on September 8, the anniversary of the naval battle of Spetses.
