Koufonissia is a complex of three neighboring islands, Ano Koufonissi, Kato Koufonissi and Keros. When we refer to Koufonissia, we usually mean Ano Koufonissi, as Keros and Kato Koufonissi are uninhabited.

Ano Koufonissi is so small that you can walk all over it in a few hours. The same goes for Kato Koufonissi which has no roads at all, but its beaches are fantastic, with emerald waters.

The beaches of Koufonissia are not many and it's worthwhile to visit all of them, Megali Ammos, Finikas, Italida and Pori. In the latter, the landscape is absolutely beautiful and a boat ride around the cove will bewitch you.

At the edge of the cove, we see the cave of the "Devil's Eye", a hole in the rock spectacularly flooded by the dashing waves.

In the same cove, there's Gala, another impressing and very deep cave, creating a little natural beach. Nearby, there's Pissina, a natural pool ideal for swimming and diving.

You can visit the Folk Art Museum, near the church of Agios Georgios and the old cistern. You can see and take pictures of the windmills, necessary for the inhabitants in the old days, with the most impressing one welcoming the visitors at the port.
